Go
Green Club
The Go Green Club at Paul Revere
Middle School is dedicated to the conservation of our natural resources.
Members are responsible for spreading the word about the importance
of protecting the environment, organizing "green" events
such as campus beautification, and raising money to support environmental
charities. In addition, the annual Runathon hosted by the Go Green
Club and the PE Department raises money to support a local environmental
nonprofit organization and our school.
The Go Green Club meets weekly
on Tuesdays during lunch in Town Hall. We are dedicated to promoting
a "green" lifestyle. At our meetings,
we discuss environmental issues, plan environmental activities, and
watch environmental movies. New members are welcome to join anytime.
Just show up to our meetings. Club activities may fulfill community
service hours.

Day
Without a Bag
Thursday, December
16, 2010
The goal of A Day without a Bag is to reduce the use of single-use plastic
bags throughout California by empowering shoppers to take simple and
direct actions to eliminate unsightly debris and save taxpayer dollars.
A unique coalition of major retailers, local governments and regional
environmental groups has formed to organize the 4th annual A Day Without
a Bag, which urges consumers to forego environmentally harmful one-use
plastic or paper grocery bags in favor of reusable totes. Dozens
of community groups, from soccer clubs in Highland Park to Girl Scout
troops in Agoura Hills, will be conducting bag giveaways and grassroots
education for consumers throughout the region. The event, organized by
Heal the Bay, is sponsored by the city and county of Los Angeles.
Reusable bags are a long-term practical solution: A single reusable
bag has the potential to replace over 1,000 single-use bags in its lifetime,
saving a significant amount of resources. Reusable bags are much less
likely to enter the litter streamand can last for years. Designed for
many uses, reusable bags also emit fewer carbon dioxide emissions and
require less energy in their production and manufacture than single-use
bags and even plastic HDPE bags made from 50% recycled content.
(The above text is from the Heal
the Bay website.)
Please let Ms. Chen know if you are interested in distributing
reusable bags on this day in order to encourage others to stop the use
of one-time use plastic bags and to promote Day Without a Bag.
