In order to ensure the safety, health, and security of all participants in this tropical, remote location, the program has developed a detailed emergency plan, distributed to all program staff.  Detailed guidelines for health and safety (e.g., vaccine, travel, medical info) will be distributed to all participants.  The following amenities will be provided to all participants:

  • 24 hour contact with Veronica Limpias in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and SELVA staff in the U.S.

  • First aid kits.

  • Tents for use throughout trip.

  • Life jackets for use on boats.

  • Accompanied by PNNKM park guards the entire trip.

  • Nurse available in the community of Porvenir, and a doctor nearby in Piso Firme.

  • Staff with first aid and CPR training.

  • Trip led by Lisandro Saucedo, head authority of Porvenir.

  • Trip led by Alison Lipman, Ph.D. ecologist, UCLA lecturer.
